Breathe · Connect · Strengthen
Leaking, tightness, disconnection from your own body.
These are common — but they are not normal.
And they are absolutely fixable.
The Reconnect Method is a clinical pelvic floor therapy in Phuket combining breath and core rehabilitation developed at Abbysan. Led by physiotherapist Denny Jumpaon, it treats leaking, postpartum dysfunction, core weakness and pelvic pain through evidence-based hands-on care. The method works by restoring the body's deep pressure system — the coordinated relationship between the diaphragm, pelvic floor, transverse abdominis and deep spinal muscles — which governs everything from bladder control and core stability to hormonal rhythm and sleep quality. It is a specialist form of women's health physiotherapy that extends to men, addressing stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, mixed incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti and perineal recovery. Unlike generic pelvic floor muscle training or Kegel exercises, every session begins with a full assessment so that treatment is specific to each person's pattern of dysfunction. The Reconnect Method is delivered in-person at Abbysan's Boat Lagoon and Cherngtalay studios in Phuket, Thailand.
Stress urinary incontinence (leaking when you cough, sneeze or exercise), urge incontinence (sudden urgent need to urinate), and mixed incontinence are all pressure management failures — not simply weak muscles. When the diaphragm and pelvic floor are not coordinating correctly, intra-abdominal pressure spikes exceed what the pelvic floor can manage. Restoring breathing mechanics and correct pelvic floor coordination typically resolves leaking within a few sessions.
Birth — vaginal or caesarean — disrupts the coordination of the deep core system. Many postpartum women experience stress urinary incontinence, diastasis recti (mummy tummy), perineal recovery challenges, or c-section recovery complications that affect core activation. The Reconnect Method addresses all of these, whether you are six weeks or six years postpartum.
Many people train their outer core without ever reactivating the deep system. Diastasis recti, mummy tummy, and persistent lower back pain are often signs that the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor have switched off. The Reconnect Method rebuilds this deep core foundation through specific pelvic floor muscle training and intra-abdominal pressure work.
Chronic pelvic floor tension is a frequently overlooked driver of dysmenorrhoea. When the pelvic floor is hypertonic, the uterus contracts against resistance — amplifying cramping and radiating pain. Releasing this tension through breath and targeted pelvic floor work often produces significant reductions in cycle pain within a few sessions.
Pelvic floor tension and dysfunctional breathing create a physiological stress state that can interfere with ovulation and implantation. Preparing the body for conception means restoring nervous system regulation, optimising pelvic blood flow, and ensuring the deep core system is coordinated — all addressed directly in the Reconnect Method.
Chronic pelvic floor tension keeps the nervous system in a low-grade stress state, elevating cortisol and disrupting sleep architecture. Restoring diaphragmatic breathing and releasing hypertonic pelvic floor patterns directly supports parasympathetic nervous system activation — the state required for deep, restorative sleep.
Most people with pelvic floor dysfunction are breathing incorrectly — using the chest and shoulders rather than the diaphragm. This disrupts intra-abdominal pressure and puts constant downward load on the pelvic floor. Breathing retraining restores the natural pressure system that coordinates core, pelvic floor and spine as a single unit.
The pelvic floor can be weak, tight, or simply disconnected — and each state requires a different approach. Standard pelvic floor muscle training and Kegel exercises assume weakness, but many clients are actually hypertonic. Denny assesses pelvic floor tone from posture and movement patterns, then uses targeted activation to restore correct function.
The deep core — transverse abdominis, internal obliques, multifidus and pelvic floor — functions as a pressure canister, not a set of isolated muscles. When this system breaks down after pregnancy, surgery or prolonged stress, the outer muscles compensate and the deep system switches off. Core reconnection rebuilds this from the inside out.
Stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, mixed incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are all pressure management failures. Evidence-based, hands-on techniques target the root cause of each presentation — not the symptom — for both women and men.
The Reconnect Method is for anyone experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, breathing disconnection, or core weakness — regardless of age or gender. It is assessment-first and entirely private. No drop-ins, no group settings, no generic programs.
Your body isn't broken.
It's simply waiting to reconnect.
Every session begins with observation. Denny reads posture, rib position, breathing pattern and movement quality to identify whether the pelvic floor is hypertonic (too tight), hypotonic (too loose), or simply uncoordinated. This determines everything that follows — there is no generic starting point. Learn more about how we read the body in our Movement Decision System.
Once the assessment is complete, breath work begins. You will learn to use the diaphragm correctly — expanding the ribcage three-dimensionally — and coordinate the exhale with pelvic floor engagement. This restores the intra-abdominal pressure system that underpins all movement.
Hands-on work releases hypertonic tissue and facilitates correct muscle firing patterns. This is not massage — it is precise clinical input that helps the nervous system relearn coordination. Internal oblique activation, multifidus engagement and thoracolumbar fascia loading are integrated progressively.
Each session ends with a specific home practice — typically two or three targeted movements or breathing exercises to reinforce what was worked on. Most clients notice meaningful change within 3–5 sessions. The home program is what makes that change stick between appointments.
The Reconnect Method is available in-person at two locations in Phuket, Thailand. Both studios operate on a private, appointment-only basis — no drop-ins.

"After two pregnancies I had completely lost connection with my core and was leaking every time I exercised. After four sessions with Dr. Abhishek I understood why — and the leaking stopped. I wish I had done this years ago."

"I am 16 and had painful periods for as long as I can remember. My mum brought me to see Denny after nothing else helped. In the first session Denny identified chronic pelvic floor tension I didn't even know I had. Within a few sessions my cycle pain reduced significantly. I didn't know these things were connected."

"I came to Abbysan three years ago with severe nerve compression in my neck — pain radiating down both arms, and surgeons telling me I had no other option. Dr. Abhishek and the team worked on my posture and movement over many months. But the final piece was the breathing and pelvic floor work with Denny. Once my breathing mechanics changed, my sleep improved, the nerve pain reduced, and I have not needed surgery. I am still here."

Most clients notice a clear difference within 3–5 sessions. The total number depends on the complexity and duration of the dysfunction. Acute presentations (e.g. postpartum leaking with no other complications) often resolve faster than long-standing chronic patterns. Denny will give you a realistic estimate after the first session assessment.
This depends on your insurance provider and policy. Sessions at Abbysan are private pay. We can provide a receipt and session summary that you may submit to your insurer for reimbursement under physiotherapy or clinical wellness benefits. Contact your provider before booking if this is important to you.
Yes. Men have a pelvic floor too — and it is equally susceptible to dysfunction. Male clients typically present with incontinence after prostate surgery, chronic lower back pain, or breathing dysfunction affecting athletic performance. The assessment and treatment process is the same; the anatomy is different and Denny is trained to work with both.
Pilates and yoga are movement practices. The Reconnect Method is a clinical intervention rooted in women's health physiotherapy principles. Standard pelvic floor muscle training and Kegel exercises are often prescribed as a universal fix — but they only address one isolated muscle and assume weakness when many people are actually hypertonic. The Reconnect Method assesses pelvic floor state first, works with the full pressure system (diaphragm, transverse abdominis, pelvic floor), and applies manual techniques that no mat class can replicate.
